Last Minute Golf Holiday Tips

Are you planning on booking a last minute golf break? There’s certainly a lot to think about, and probably more than your typical getaway in the sun..

Any good golf break requires a reasonable amount of planning; so to help you get the most out of your last-minute golf trip, we’ve compiled a list of some of our top tips:

The weekend break hack

If you’re able to be a little flexible with your dates you could enjoy less competition for tee-times and reduced fares.

The most popular days for a long-weekend gold break are Thursday to Sunda. But if you can switch from Saturday to Tuesday, not only will your plan fare be cheaper, you may have more freedom around the course and open up more accommodation options.

Pack smart

What equipment do you want to take with you? Create a list as soon as possible so you have time to consider everything you want to take. When booking a last minute golf holiday, you’re more likely to have an accurate forecast for the weather, which can help you to pack better too. There are plenty of guides to help you pack for your golf trip online, and help you maximise your space.

Pre-booking tee times

Depending on where you’re going and the time of year, you may want to consider booking your preferred tee times before you go.

Search smart

If you don’t have a specific location in mind, or your preferred place is booked up, you can make your search easier by looking in a few designated areas.

Portual – Consider the Lisbon area where there are numerous luxurious courses, close to the city. An area that is growing in popularity. Or Vilamoura, where there are numerous five star resorts within close proximity.

Spain – Arguably offering one of the largest selections of excellent golf courses. The canary islands have also enjoyed substantial growth and now boasts several golf courses in this beautiful location.

Traveling in a group?

It’s important to establish early on what everyone’s hopes are for the holiday. Who is going to organise what and when? Lay out these foundations early on and you’ll have a smoother time planning the getaway and less surprises when you arrive. Also consider when your group size increases, often new opportunities open up group discounts, such as the ability to share larger accommodation which can be cheaper than booking along.
